why can't we be friends

Reader comment on item: There Are No Moderates: Dealing with Fundamentalist Islam
in response to reader comment: Just a generic Westerner

Submitted by Stan the eastern man (Singapore), Sep 8, 2009 at 12:33

I read all views on this marvelous subject and people have been civilised, generally adhering to Daniel's call for non-impassioned fury type of debate. My favourites are articles by Mai, Claire, B williame and Muhamad Shakeel Faiz and YES....i read every word from Muhamad's long winded explanation. I like Mai for his\her perspective and Claire's thoughtful response and i like Williames clever reasoning - The fellow must be a lawyer or something. The rest are just mid western bible thumbers and wide eyed virgin Jihadist.

As a neutral though, Muhamad's long winded, thoughtful explanations did the islamic cause in for me. I mean, WHY do you need an Islamic State? No matter how pure the reasoning is as he had eloquoantly described, a religion (IMHO) have to be between you and GOD and NOT between GOD and what you think GOD wants for the populace. I mean creating a "state" would entail the creation of a society, and even though that "Islamic State" provisioned clearly that other faiths would be treated nicely, wouldn't it be nicer IF there is no Islamic state at all in the agenda so that the practise of faith can be between God and the individual and NOT between GOD and what you think GOD wants for a society\state\government. I mean if the entire world is inhibited by Muslims, then it make sense to create an Islamic State, but we all know that is NOT the case, so a religion - Any religion that pushes for the creation of their own state (albeit saying -others will be treated nicely) quite simply is not a good or suitable religion for planet earth.

By saying that "Non Believers will be treated equally in an Islamic State..." Muhamad's GOD is acknowledging that there are in fact people of other faiths...a.k.a "non -believers" around...So even in that acknowledment, GOD still has the "Cohones" (well, of course, he is GOD:-)) to insists that he wants to create an Islamic State??? Mmmmppph doesn't sound like GOD as i know GOD is FAIR and not BIAS.

Having said all this...i hope we can all still be friends, but i would rather stay the way i am and be friends with my Muslim friends (and i have many, including few relatives) on a neutral ground, rather than on an Islamic State. Peace.
