Islam is a fundementally violent religion and culture, but america is not perfect eitherReader comment on item: There Are No Moderates: Dealing with Fundamentalist Islam Submitted by Jack (United States), May 15, 2007 at 22:10 The culture of Islam is not one that allows a peaceful coexistence with non-muslims. In fact, it never has been very peaceful. Muhammad began this religion around 500 AD and it was spread--not through peace or reasoned arguments--but through force and military power. Muhammad fought 32 wars and had other mini battles with his opposing neighbors. Besides the historical battles their were, and still are, other hatreds that stem from a religious viewpoint. Since Muhammad is looked upon as the last and greatest of the prophets, his words and teachings are ones not to be left alone, they must be obeyed. Muhammad is primarily responsible for writing the Quran, the muslim equivalent of the bible. Muhammad supposedly received some kind of spiritual guidance that enabled him to write the words of God. However, this work was not perfect and the Quran has had several incongruities, contradictions (very obvious ones that state the exact opposite of another verse in the Quran) with itself, with reality and history, and of course with the bible. It also has some verses (popularly named the "satanic verses") that satan made Muhammad write in his perfect "gospel". If satan was able to influence Muhammad enough to change a part of his most important work, what else is still imperfect? What can we really trust? Besides all this, Muhammad never actually made any real prophecy's or performed any real miracles. Back to why Islam is so violent. Abraham, the bible Abraham, had some sons. The primacy of his sons Ishmael and Issac is disputed between Jews and Muslims. This is important because Abraham's descendants are supposed to be the chosen ones from God, and if Issac is the firstborn son than Islam has no basis for its religion! Because of this dispute over being the chosen ones with Jews, Muslims hate the jews. They also hate the jews for not allowing them to preach their religion in their cities (this was very early in the beginning of Islam, not a recent event) . And because the issue of being the chosen ones is such an important issue with Muslims, they hate the jews, and all those that associate themselves with the jews. Besides the historical evidence for the hatred of all non-muslims, but not necessarily hatred from ALL muslims, there is the evidence that comes from their very own Quran. In the Quran there are places to be found that ask for world domination, to kill all infidels, to kill those who leave the religion of Islam, and to not allow other religions to come into contact with their culture. If this and other facts do not prove that Islam is a violent religion, then comment to me and i will respond. If you need to argue with me, please do so with actual proof of the contrary, and not just your opinion. Please no arguments like " i know some really friendly muslims here where i live" There are always exceptions to a certain rule, christianity is no exception. I have not attacked the actions of individuals in my comments because the actions of a few individuals are not enough to condemn a religion, but only if the persons are not the ones who create the religion. Also, please use reason in your arguments, and not just an impassioned fury. If you need more information...or information on any other religion for that matter, please let me know and i will do my best to answer.
