???Reader comment on item: There Are No Moderates: Dealing with Fundamentalist Islam Submitted by some dude (Canada), Mar 9, 2011 at 08:48 When Geoffroi DeBouillon took Jerusalem in the name of God (Christianity) the French knights had the entire city practically rounded up and executed. Man, women, children, old, sick, it didn't matter, they were filth to the European Christians, and deserved the sword. When Saladin retook Jerusalem, he rounded up the christian knights, fed them, clothed them, and sent them home. Any soldier in his army to mistreat a prisoner was promptly punished. But yeah, sorry they are violent people...right. Islam was spread by word, not violence. It promoted peace through learning and understanding. To fight a Jihad is to defend your faith when it is attacked, not when it needs to be spread. They innovated and advanced mathematics, transportation, and reinvented when we know today as postal services. At least you said one thing right, like in any religion, their are always fundamentalists. Some have access to c4 strapped to their chest, and others to nuclear launch codes. Oh and next time, don't base your opinions on the media, but rather, read a book and take the time to sit and discuss with people outside of your comfort zone, you would be surprised at how enlightening it could be. PS Im not Muslim or Christian. I am white, born in a suburb. My parents drive a lexus and when I saw the 1st black person in front of me i just sat there staring. Culture shock. 10 years later I walked outside of my bubble and instead of informing myself with the knowledge of my world,(ie: the media) I went straight to the source.
