Live and Let LiveReader comment on item: There Are No Moderates: Dealing with Fundamentalist Islam Submitted by steve (United States), Jul 23, 2013 at 20:19 I see what you are saying to a point. Yes, there are always some culture biases. I was raised an American and am subject to some of its culture the same as anyone raised in other cultures. However, America does provide more chance for cultures to live peacefully than many places. Why else would so many cultures come here? Furthermore, I see a major difference between fundamentalist religious Christians, Jews, and others compared with fundamentalist Islamists in that the latter is much less likely to live and let live peacefully side by side. Moderate muslims who profess to be peaceful have the burden of convincing others that they are actually peaceful and not appeasers of orthodox radicalism with which they invariably become associated. If they do not move towards becoming part of the community, as every culture must in living together, they alienate themselves and become objects of curiosity at best and persons to avoid at worst. What a great way to live snubbing each other. It doesn't make for good relations. It works both ways for people living together. I simply feel the burden is more on the moderate muslims because many are not from the U.S. and because of the political radicals associated with Islam.
