what, Iran supplying arms?Reader comment on item: Swiss Minarets and European Islam Submitted by the Grand Infidel of Kafiristan (Australia), Jan 4, 2010 at 15:36 Mr Bannergee writes: "Kindly go through my comments on Western involvment in Iran's internal affairs since the days of Mohammad Mossadeq and then the Western backing for the brutal shah regime. There is no doubt that the animosities you see from Iran against Western policies is based upon those past Western interfaring in Iranian internal affairs." "As per as Iran-Iraq war is concerned do not forget it was the West which supplied Saddam HUssain with poisonus gasses which Saddam used to kill his own citizens. It is clear that without western help Saddam would not have dared to attack Iran." Poison gas was not obtained by Saddam Hussein from any Western government. The raw materials - which could have been put to any use - e.g. agricultural sprays - were sourced from Japan and the US.To deliberately misconstrue the situation to pretend they were supplied by western governments is what I'd expect from someone who has no regard for the truth. In fact a lone Dutch businessman actively trading in the Middle East and acting in his own interests - sold several chemicals to the Iraqis. It's debatable whether he could have known how they would have been mixed or to what ends they were going to be put. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4360137.stm The main gas used was mustard gas - its use has been banned for decades. Some sarin was also used though mustard gas was used in the main attack where over 5,000 people were killed.Russian MIGs and French Mirage jets were also used in that operation by Saddam against the Kurds. So are you going to blame the Russians for Saddam's actions as well? And remember Hussein conducted well over 200 sorties against the Kurds, many using chemical weapons - but he was doing this for Allah. So how can you have any objections? "As soon as we complete the deportations," he informed them, "we will start attacking [the Pershmega resistance] everywhere... then we will surround them in a small pocket and attack them with chemical weapons. I will not attack them with chemicals just one day; I will continue to attack them with chemicals for fifteen days... I told the expert comrades that I need guerrilla groups in Europe to kill whoever they see of them [Kurdish oppositionists]. I will do it, with the help of God. I will defeat them and follow them to Iran. Then I will ask the Mujaheddin to attack them there ." --Mr Al Majid at a meeting of Ba'ath Party leaders ,26 May 1987 So you see - it was all done for allah and by the mujahadeen - so everything is OK and you don't have to worry. And by the way there are plenty of unconfirmed reports that groups linked to the al-Qaeda network have tried to obtain the ingredients to make mustard gas in Afghan labs. "As per Nelson Mandela is concerned he was called a terrorist by both the US as well UK governments at the time. Kindly go through some of the "nationalreview" magazine's columns on the situation in south africa at the time." Yes - Saint Mandela WAS called a terrorist at that time - he was brought before a court of law and he himself admitted to terrorist charges. http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/june/12/newsid_3006000/3006437.stm So what's your definition of terrorism - is it different for muslims? "When compared to Israel or the USA Iran has never attacked any one of it's neighbours. This is a historical fact and even people like you can not deny it." But people like me can point out the obvious fact that Iran runs a war by proxy against Israel - supplying Hezbollah with arms. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/06/02/AR2007060201020.html Note that they are too scared of Russia to supply even bullets to Chechen islamists Which of its neighbours has the US attacked in recent history? Canada, Russia, Mexico? And which countries has Israel attacked that presented no direct threat to Israel? "...Take care." you too, sweetie.
