USA muslim president?

Mt Barry Soetoro, I think USA is a free country, they allow to elect even a black president (Barrack Obama). Probably you right Mr Barry, that oneday if Americans will become a country with the majority of muslim population, of course no doubt those majority will elect a muslim to be their president

The question is:

What kind of muslim will be elected as a president of USA?

Will a muslim president of USA protects the USA amandement to give every single american the right and freedom to believe in whatever religion or believe they chose? Even if they are a minority?

Now americans have a freedom to choose to be christian, hindu, sikh, muslim, budhist, taoism, etc, even protect the right of agnostics and atheis. Now there is no a big deal for everybody to embrace whatever they believe as long as no threat to others. I think, in USA there is no problem to live together in harmony no matter what the believe is, because the law protect all individual to have equal right no matter what is your race, culture and religion. Will this condition still exist when a muslim president elected in USA? Oh yes, you told that the majority of USA population will be muslims and success to elect a muslim president, and non muslim will become a minority. Do you think that muslim president will not apply a shariah law in USA to change current USA law?

Now let we see the country where muslims are the majority population. Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iran, Somalia, etc. What happen to them? Of course they will elect a muslim president. We knew, the minority has very minimum right there, they often experience unfair supression by the majority muslims. Look at Egypt now, few days ago there was a riot there when the coptic christians were murder during their prayer. Look at Malaysia, yesterday the islamist complained about ALLAH word using by christians. Malaysian clerics allow to ban the practice of a well being yoga to muslims. Why they should have such problem which is not allow to happen in USA? I am sure if USA became a muslim country, JF Kennedy who is a catholic minority will never allow to become a president. A black people like Barack Obama will never allow to be president in a majority white people country of USA. You see the differences why non muslim suspicious to let islamist muslims to hold power?

I do not say all muslims are the same. In Indonesia, a country with muslim majority, still current government willing to protect our diversity to follow our state foundation (a seculer foundation not an islam foundation). Even islamist muslim fundamentalist is not a majority among Indonesia muslims, but their existance is growing and their aim is to take power to change Indonesia seculer foundation to islam foundation. Will we let those islamist people to take power? If those people in power, what about Indonesia very diverse country existance consist of hundreds of tribes and many religions? Remember, eventhough non muslim is a minority community in Indonesia, but the majority of Indonesia land belong to non muslim tribes. They will not be quite if there is no guarantee to have freedom by a muslim leader. Will those islamist fanatic leaders will give a non muslim freedom? I do not think so!!! Those fanatic people even accused the muslim tolerant leader to be a puppet of non muslim (The west).. I am sure those islamist fanatics are still on going struggle to reach power in Indonesia which we should not allow them to do so.

I think in this site we are discussing on the growing threat of islamist intolerant. I consider the threat is not only for non muslims, but also to muslims who are tolerant to others. Mr Barry, I think from your comments in this site, you softly saying to the readers that "Look, you like or dislike, muslims will occupy the world and you must accept it" I can say, if it will happen then FINE, it may not a problem at all. But will there be a guarantee to keep freedom? The history has not prove it yet. Definitely we do not want to end up like Pakistan where they persecuted Ahmadiyah muslim, remember Indonesians muslims already persecuted agmadiyah community. Lucky the government protect their freedom now. We do not want Indonesia to be like Saudia to persecuted non muslim to build their chruch or temple in their land. Remember in Saudia, they even persecuted shie muslims there. We do not want Indonesians muslims follow Malaysian muslims to make a big mess and enrage just because the word of Allah use by christian. We do not want any single Indonesia will murder someone, just because she/he use a freedom of speech to express his personal opinion about any religion.

You like or dislike, the fact that there is not much history written that muslim majority community adopt such tolerancy as what the west achieved in a land of non muslim majority. I hope we Indonesians can give example on behalf of peace of region, we root out the islamist fundamentalist, who I consider as an ignorant, arogant and intolerant and dangerous community to non muslim.

If oneday a muslim may arise from a non threat community who adopted basic human right, I guess maybe oneday in USA there will be a muslim president. That was happening in USA to have JF Kennedy who arose from a minority Irish catholic community to be a leader of USA. They have freedom to do so. He was accepted by the world because catholic is not a threat to non catholic. I am wondering, is it possible we see oneday the islamist community change to be a NO THREAT community to non muslims? By giving a freedom base on equality to non muslim? Then that time we all will have reach a PEACE in this earth without considering what kind of religion is the leaders!!! Thank you.
