'Extremists' are the True Muslims

Reading the comments of Eman while defending Islam and perpetuating the harm I think there is an important point that should be made clear about those we usually call "extremists", "Fundamentalists" and the likes.

It is true that the Qur'an says "Let there be no compulsion in religion" but that was in the early years of Islam. More verses in the Islamic holy book described what we call terrorism today as in a way Islamic. And lest anyone say I am misquoting the Qur'an, I will first quote what an Islamic cleric wrote right from the world's Capital of Islam, Saudi Arabia. Sheikh Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Humaid wrote from Al-Masida-al-Haram, Makka, Saudi Arabia on "Fighting In the Cause of Allah" and I quote:

"As is now obvious, at first "the fight" was forbidden [V. 2:106 (which Eman quoted)],
then it was permitted [V. 22:39-40] and after that it was made obligatory_
(1) against them who start "the fight" against you (Muslims)
(2)and against all those who worship others along with Allah... as mentioned
in Surah Al-Baqarah (II)'Al- Imran (iii) and Tauba (ix) and other Surah
(quote from his lecture notes after the Summary of sahih Al-Bukhari, a hadith; Surah refers to
chapters of the Qur'an)Before I quote the verses in the Qur'an, I want to say that it won't be fair to generalize and call all Muslims wicked or such. I have had Muslim friends who were serious about their religion [well, sincerely, I don't think they were in view of some of the verses I will quote which the Shiekh approved; they are only faithful to what they believed the true God is( which is Love) rather than what the Qur'an really says; another option is ignorance or some would have left Islam] yet loving, as well as some who laughed with Christians when with them and use strong abusive languuge against them when among their Muslim colleagues.
For the former I believe they should rather be Christians than stay in the religion their being cannot approve of its intolerance.

The Qur'an says and I quote:

"Go ye forth whether (equipped) lightly or heavily, and strive and struggle, with your goods and your persons in the cause of Allah. That is the best for you if you (but know). Surah (9:41)

Note that the Sheikh quoted above made mention of Surah Tauba (ix). The next quote is also from there:
"O ye who believe! Fight the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find harshness in you: and know that Allah is with them that fear Him" (Surah 9:123)
