Gamal Abd al-Nasser and al-ikhwan al-muslimeen

Dr. Pipes,

Thanks for a great article and a great picture that I knew for some time did exist, but i have never been able to see a copy of it before. and it is the picture of Said Ramadan in the White House in 1953. He is the father of the stealth jihadist Tariq Ramadan and the son in law of Hasan al-Bana the fascist.

From what I understand there is new biography of Gamal Abd al-Nasser by an Egyptian historian who had unlimited access to the Egyptian archives of the 1950's. It will be from what i understand published in the next few months. It seems that when Nasser heard and then saw such picture he was very upset about what he called "el-ghabawa el-amrikiyya" or the stupidity of the Americans as he had made it very clear to them and thru them to israel that he is not their enemy and that the real enemy of not just him and Egypt but also the west and israel is radical Islam and the Muslim brotherhood

It is too bad that back in the 1950's we here in the US did not understand the Islamic threat to the whole world and what is indeed sad is that neither Israel nor the US and the West did listen to Nasser's concerns about radical Islam.

There is no doubt that Nasser was able to crush radical islam for almost 18 more years until his death in 1970. He also realized that a world without the likes of Sayyid Qutb is a better world and this is why he was hanged

It is too bad that the leaders of Israel, the Us and the West did not see this coming and there is no doubt in my mind that the Ghaza attack of 1954 and the Lavon affair were grave mistakes because Nasser was open for the idea of peace with israel as he assumed that israel can see that the real enemy of both Nasser and Israel is really radical islam
