I cannot speak for the muslim point of view as I am not one of them, but as a jew I find it quite interesting that many secular jews have and are in the process of following halacha in their lives. Actually I have a friend who was pointed in the direction of traditional Judaism from some muslim friends of his own accord chose to have a circumcision at 25 years old.

Needless to say both of my parents and of my spouses grew up in completely secular lifestyles and chose to become more religious. this trend had begun in the late 60 and has continued from there as the "baal teshuva" see wikipedia for more info. Many of the problems of the secular society have certainly contributed to this as in sky high divorce rates etc. But many people are actually looking for something more fulfilling, real and hopeful than just chasing after money sex etc. I personally find it sad that Judaism has become like Christianity and I feel that it has become watered down due to the want of some to be more accepted. I believe and I practice that in the modern society one who has a strong faith and belief system is not only tolerated but respected .Both for reasons of business morals and family morals.
