Chemical processes The following chemical processes were invented by Muslim chemists: Cocotion (or digestion), ceration, lavage, and mixture. Dry distillation Purification and oxidisation: Invented by Jābir ibn Hayyān. Steam distillation: Invented by Abncenna in the early 11th century for the purpose of producing essential oils. Water purification Food and drink Coffee: The earliest credible evidence of either coffee drinking or knowledge of the coffee tree appears in the middle of the 15th century, in the Sufi monasteries of the Yemen in southern Arabia.[16] It was in Yemen that coffee beans were first roasted and brewed as they are today. From Mocha, coffee spread to Egypt and North Africa, and by the 16th century, it had reached the rest of the Middle East, Persia and Turkey. From the Muslim world, coffee drinking spread to Italy, then to the rest of Europe, and coffee plants were transported by the Dutch to the East Indies and to the Americas. Confectionery: Due to advances in sugar production and the invention of sugar refineries, this led to the production of early confectioneries by the Arabs. Pure distilled alcohol and ethanol: First isolated by Al-Kindi (Alkindus) in the 9th century. Restaurant and three-course meal: The earliest restaurants came into existence throughout the Islamic world from the 10th century, shortly before restaurants appeared in China in the 11th century. The Islamic world had "restaurants where one could purchase all sorts of prepared dishes." These restaurants were mentioned by Al-Muqaddasi (born 945) in the late 10th century. Restaurants in medieval Islamic Spain served three-course meals, which was earlier introduced in the 9th century by Ziryab, who insisted that meals should be served in three separate courses consisting of soup, the main course, and dessert. and you may also search about the following things i will mention: Civil engineering Cosmetics Institutions Mechanical technology Medical products Military Navigational technology Scientific instruments and a lot more , got tired or writing !! gotta figure the rest and its details by your self , good luck :) Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
