In defense of Prophet, peace be upon himReader comment on item: Geert Wilders, Close to Exoneration Submitted by robert b (United States), Dec 1, 2010 at 01:35 So what if the Prophet, peace be upon him, married a 6 year old girl and consumated the marriage with her at age 9? Does that make him "wrong"? No one should have the right to publicly express the view that he was a "child molester," since all intimate relationships took place within the holy bounds of matrimony. Whoever makes such a grotesque slander should be punished as a criminal. And the Islamic community is not even asking for the application of Sharia in which the penalty is death by stoning. I think this is an appropriate accomodation to the Dutch people. Sure they have had 500 years or more to develop a liberal and open society which gives full protection to freedom of speech. But what is that when compared to higher duty of service to God? Obviously God comes first. And since the Prophet, peace be upon him, has acted accordingly, then it is good and just and right by definition. So in modeling our lives on the true path as shown by the Prophet, peace be upon him, then of course marriage to a 6 year old girl followed by consumating such marriage at age 9 is more than legal. It is a union blessed by God. Now despite the ignorance of the Dutch laws that forbid such unions, and defame such acts as "child molestation," we in the Muslim community are willing to recognize the Dutch laws in a type of temporary truce, for now. But only on condition that no one may publicly insinuate that these unions constitute "child molestation" or that the Prophet, peace be upon him, was a "child molester". For that the penalty should be criminal slander of religion and be prosecuted just as they are doing to Geert Wilders.
