Abu el-Fadl and the doctrine of al-JihadReader comment on item: Answering Khaled Abou El Fadl Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Dec 29, 2010 at 13:54 Dr. Pipes Abu al-Fadl is either ignorant or he is a liar as he was quoted (see Bostom) in 1999 as saying "There is no doubt that Muslim jurists do equate just war with religious war (Jihad)" Now he tells us: "Holy war is not an expression used by the Qurnic text or Muslim theologians" This is just amazing For the readers: 1. If you read Q9:73 it says ya ayuha al-nabi jaahidi al-kuffara wa al-munafiqina Or: O you prophet wage war against the infidles and the hypocrites The word jaahidi is from the root JHD and it means you wage war So to tell us that the word jihad is not in the Qur'an and it does not mean holy war is hypocricy or ignorance As for the term al-harb al-muqadassa or holy war if you read Q2:216 you will find kutiba 3aliykum al-qital Or war is ordained for you And as per Malik anything ordained by Allah is muqaddas or holy and this is indeed the foundation of the doctrine of holy war or al-harb al-muqadassa aka Jihad in islam and it is not us kuffar that are saying that it is Malik and the darling of European Dhimmis Ibn Sina (for readers interested in great translations of ibn Sina and malik's examination of holy war aka jihad in the Qur'an you can find it in Peters' book Jihad) As for just war or harb al-3adl or the just war I challenge Abu el-Fadl to find anything in the Qur'an about such doctrine and even if he does then it would have been abrogated by ayat al-sayf or the sword verse or Q9:5 and ayat al-jizya or Q9:29 So he is either ignorant or a liar and I suspect that he is the latter ...
