FutureReader comment on item: Answering Khaled Abou El Fadl Submitted by Amin Riaz (United Kingdom), Feb 2, 2011 at 21:08 Idea of democracy pre dates christianty to the ancient greek. The romans employed a system of republic - but the most interesting implementation of democracy was by independent republics of India during 6th century BC. Separation of church and state led to formation of Christianty - severe weaking of the religion. Trying to claim that Christianity had anything to do with democracy is a ridiculous ad far fetched assertion. These days are the dying days of christianty - which has been reduced to nothing more than few ideas an rituals. Its hardly practised anywhere seriously. Democracy as the best form of goverment is only the present view - a hundred years from now I doubt either USA will be the most powerful govt nor democracy the choice govt type. It will be secularism the fastest growing religion - with last days of all great religions.
