The future and the cost of education in the USReader comment on item: Answering Khaled Abou El Fadl Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Dec 30, 2010 at 07:16 Hi Ynna Very good point >Needles to say that the fact that to study there is about 45-50 % the price of the US, the level of the American Univ. in humanities had fallen shamefully. Very good point and i wish that Dr. Pipes can comment on such great point as with the very expensive education in the US why would any student study something esoteric, but very important as in the case of the study of early Islam, and end with huge loans and then get a $10.00/hour job at Starbucks I'm afraid to say that in the case of the history of early islam the Germans and the British are already far ahead of the US and I would blame the cost of such education and the fact that many in academia in the US would not wish to see Muslims unhappy and I suspect that if John Wansbrough is to write his books now about early islam here in the US he would not be able to do so and this is the man that changed our understanding of the history of early Islam Or even worse imagine that Abu el-Fadl was his advisor when he was writing such great books!
