Islam & Democracy

The Islamic states in the Middle East do not need "Democracy." They had "Democracy" in the Weimar Republic and voted in the NAZI party with a stong enough position to maneuver a take over. The facts of this are documented quite effectively in the history text "Modern Germany" by Koppel Pinson Chapter 20 the "Road to Dictatorship" and Chapter and 21 "Germany Goes Berserk." The German people rejected Western Civilization and voted suicide.

That is precisely what will happen in Egypt unless they adopt the philosophy of freedom (Western Civilization) which requires the acceptance of solving alleged social problems by rational persuasion and not at the point of a bayonet. The minimum requirements for such a system to come into existence in Egypt would be separation of state and religion, respect for individual rights and private property, more than one party or opinon to look to for voting and recognition of an essentially market economy.

They do not have the phliosophical underpinnings for anyone to champion this route effectively. Since the United States is itself circling the drain by abandoning the principles of freedom they have no examples to emmulate. I can only expect a dreadful result, with the Muslim Brotherhood forging an identical outcome in principle for Egypt as occurred in Germany in 1930.
