Iran in the shadows, spotlight on Syria

Any intervention in Syria would distract attention away from Iran. The Libya no-fly mission presented the Iranian government with valuable months to improve on their nuclear programme. I fear an intervention in Syria would give Iran time enough to obtain nuclear weapons in the shadows while the spotlight would be on Syria. From a strategic perspective I find it wise to allow Russia their share of influence on Syria now in order to ask for cooperation and support when the time for an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities has come.

From a Realpolitik perspective I agree with Dr Pipes. My view of the crisis is this: The Syria crisis exposes a lack of power on the side of Iran to install an islamist regime in Syria now. The US must not step in and do the job for them.
