Right on i.e. your observations and rebuttal IMOReader comment on item: Syria: Arguing for U.S. Inaction Submitted by skb (United States), Feb 26, 2012 at 19:31 Dear Dr. Pipes: Zuhid Jasser is a good man but he is blinded by his ethnic origins when he surely must realize the US military isn't the Peace Corps, NGO or, as you so aptly enunciated, "the savior" of the world. Come on folk wake up...human nature is the same as it was a 1000 yrs ago once you pull back the veil of "civilization/modernization." Its all about interests at the end of the day and if each one of us Americans waxes nostalgic over our ancestral homes and clamors for irresponsible action, then we might as well pack our bags and go back there to fight the good fight. America cannot be all things to all people all the time and survive. Best if we follow the template and example of the founders. There comes a time when one with multiple identities has to make a choice and stand firm (once the decision had been made). Not easy often but necessary. America is bleeding due to these foreign, conventional, adventures. Exactly how they want to destroy us i.e. our enemies (Al Qaeda is just one overt faction). Semi isolationism and an enegy "Manhattan Project" is what is needed. We cannot be in the business of nation building. This fight isn't ours anymore than the fight within Afghanistan or Libya or Egypt is ours. Iran is different only because the loons in Tehran are close to getting nukes and then all bets are off...
