What was Turkey Before Constantine?Reader comment on item: Predicting Middle Eastern Politics Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Apr 30, 2012 at 15:27 Turkey is a Muslim country, but the land was not always Muslim. As a Muslim country, though, it is at a crossroads, much in the same way the predecessor empires and satrapies were when the land faced enormous changes due to conquering forces needing the land's strategic location for their quests: like the Persians, the Greeks, Trojans, the Romans; just to name a few. Under its current Muslim control, Turkey stands again at the crossroads, preparing for their expected role as a preeminent regional power with plenty to offer as a face of Islam to the west; and as might be expected in that pivotal role, a force to be contended with. In stark comparison to Egypt, once a mighty power of its own preeminence, Turkey can be considered to be in a better position economically for a variety of reasons which I'll not belabor right now. In that, it also has raised considerable interest from certain non-Muslim sectors, a situation that will be more noticeable as time passes. For the moment, Turkey's position next to Syria poses a series of conjectures; of alliances with the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary forces and how it is expected Syria will come out from under Bashar al-Assad's attempts to regain control of the Syrian countryside-looking closely at who is providing the necessary support to achieve and expected outcome: which begs the question: what's next? Then the mention of Islam conquering Rome, which in this estimation your reference is not Italia, but in the vein of the crusaders versus the warriors of dar al-Islam, you are expecting to bring Islam in as the world's religion, yet not fully understanding why that must indeed, come to pass. Hmmmm….the only problem with that is….what to do about Israel, for one might think that once the world is online with the Islamic Revolution, Israel should go quietly into the night. Therein lays Islam's conundrum; but we've been through all that before, so I'll not belabor that either. For those who do understand, Israel's Holy One, Ha Mashiach, the One who died on the cross long before the first words were dictated into the Quran, and Who was resurrected to the right hand of the Almighty Sovereign, has other plans of Israel; and another course of action is in the wings, waiting. Now, Turkey does figure into that, quite largely, quite prominently. So, do not fret that Turkey will not get its chance to show the world her allegiances to Islam - that'll be coming soon enough. The real question is: if one believes that, whose side does one want to be on. As for me, my eternal destiny was already formed in the WORD of the LORD through Yeshua HaMashiach. Quite a few people, such as those in the American Administration, have left off asking His opinion; but He'll be expressing that in due time.
