Too optimistic in my viewReader comment on item: Egypt's Real Ruler: Mohamed Tantawi Submitted by sara (United States), Jul 16, 2012 at 18:51 Unfortunately you are correct about the poor and the poverty levels in Egypt. They were atrocious to begin with and likely worse now that the govt is in disarray. I wonder what documentation there is of actual economic progress in that country over the past decades. I heard that only 4 percent is even arable land (look what the Jews did with that, cleared the swamps and humidified the desert). Poverty will always be a factor but only to the west. I believe that these Arabs are used to their lifestyles and have little aspiration and I do not have any confidence that one day they will rise up and blame the Ikhwan for anything. They will be riled up against the satanic west and Israel and continue to blame them for all woes, economic and otherwise. That is how it has always been and I see nothing that will change it, if access to the internet hasn't made a dent. I read today that a very small percentage even recognizes evolution. When literacy rates are so low, how can they benefit from knowledge?
