This is the same argument: Read Qur'an!

Dr. Pipes

This is an old argument by Muslims as when nothing works then we are told by tablighees to "Read Qur'an" and all will be OK! but the thing is many of us kuffar can "Read Qur'an" in Arabic and can understand what it really says and can read the Islamic literary sources in Arabic something that most Muslims cannot do. Just think for a minute how much Arabic does Akbar Ahmad really know? and how much does he really know about let us say the historical method? let me guess: He does not

Oh and only the "scholars" can examine Islam argument: But when you ask what is really a scholar of islam? is he someone that can read the sources in Arabic and has great command of the Arabic language but how about let us say knowledge of Syriac and Hebrew which I regard as essential in the study of Islam? and how about the command of literary criticism? Let me guess this would get rid of most so called scholars of Islam that are Muslims.

The way I see this they want to silence the critics of islam and no more but it does not work

Take the case of Father Zakaria Botros: He has a degree in theology but his command of Arabic, Hebrew, Syriac and Coptic and he can read the islamic literary sources and really understand what they are really saying and his great command of literary criticism and logic but it seems that MPAC is saying that he cannot examine islam because he has no formal degree in Islamic studies! How absurd

Can you imagine Father Zakaria Botros in a class by the likes of Akbar Ahmad? I can see him getting plenty of "F's"!

And yes it is "Read THE Qur'an" but again tablighees have no clue about the definite article in Arabic as well as English
