Gloss on Hegel

Congratulations on your honorary appointment as "Expert on Islam," by MPAC.

You mention Hegel's description of Islamic political entities as " a "boundless sea" on which "there is a continual onward movement; nothing abides firm." I think another Islamic History Expert (P. J. O'Rourke, GIVE WAR A CHANCE) was more to the point when he said that Muslim countries were less a matter of politics than more like being "quarrels with borders."

P.S. Will your new title be worth a raise?
