Alas, worlds apart after allReader comment on item: Why I Am Voting Republican Submitted by sara (United States), Nov 6, 2012 at 18:49 Martin, You said: "On this front - the economy and social issues..the democrats are on the money." I could not possibly disagree more with this statement. Our eonomy is being mauled by the democrats and their tax and spend madness. Their refusal to deal with the debt, thinking that growing government stimulates the economy. Burning billions on wasteful pork spending under the guise of being socially or environmentally moral. These are basic beliefs which I think are deeply flawed. As for social issues, I have become increasingly and painfully aware during this campaign that democrats strive to segregate groups. label them, generalize about them and insist that demographic groupings are monolithic voting blocks who care about only the issue they are stereotyped with. I have been told that because I am a woman I should care only about reproductive rights, fearmongered into believing that my very body is under threat from Republicans, as if women don't care about the economy, foreign policy etc. Hispanics are labeled as immigration one issuers, disregarding whether they have opinions about the economy etc. They seek to divide and label, not unite. I find it very offensive and very divisive. I am a woman who places the economy at the forefront of priorities, seconded by foreign policy, and they are related deeply because the worse the debt is, the more vulnerable we are as a nation. If there is no economy to fall back on, there is no money for social programs or anything else for that matter.
