erdoğanReader comment on item: Talking Turkey Submitted by havas (Turkey), Dec 28, 2012 at 04:28 "Having outmaneuvered the "deep state," especially the military officer corps, in mid-2011, the AKP adopted an increasingly authoritarian cast, to the point that many Turks fear dictatorship more than Islamization. They watch as an Erdoğan, "intoxicated with power," imprisons opponents on the basis of conspiracy theories and wiretaps, stages show trials, threatens to suppress a costume television soap opera, seeks to impose his personal tastes on the country, fosters antisemitism, suppresses political criticism, justifies forceful measures against students protesting him, manipulates media companies, leans on the judiciary, and blasts the concept of separation of powers. Columnist Burak Bekdil ridicules him as "Turkey's elected chief social engineer." More darkly, others see him becoming Turkey's answer to Vladimir Putin, an arrogant semi-democrat who remains in power for decades." my opinion cant be expressed better than this . ı exactly think this way written above. but on the other hand the reason why this man is elected over and over has reasons. before 2002 social security system was terrible in turkey. workers and poor people were dying simply. now hospitals are open to everybody including the poorest ones. this is very important. also government directly help to poor people or to jobless by giving money and food today. before they were left to death on the streets. second ı dont know how they managed it but turkey paid all its loans to İMF. also people became much richer , cities became much more beautiful comparing to 10 years ago. 10 years ago when we travel any part of the world, either people didnt even know where turkey was in the map or we were insulted for being muslims. including arabs nobody liked us much. today when we travel to africa to arab countries to asia even to west we are much more respected people. we have turkish schools teaching turkish in 120 different countries in the world. this is unbelievable. over 30 million tourists visit our country every year. so the world know our culture. people like ianus who desperately says very bad things about turkey all the time by selecting random things or like movies of the past midnight express can not be effective anymore. because people come here and see with their own eyes that we are not barbarians, we are normal humans. our only real problem today is kurdish problem. if kurds go on like this and want to separate from turkey ı think this can be possible in 20 years or so. getting smaller a little bit may make turkey a much stronger and a civilised country ı think. and finally about mr erdoğan ı want to say that his mission must finish in turkey. he can not order us to make 3 children for example. or he can not knock down a statue only because he personally dont like. also tax on alcohol is now so high that people make their own rakı at home. he never says that drinking alcohol is against islam he says it is bad for our health. he is doing his job very smartly. but it is enough of him now.
