turkey and euReader comment on item: Talking Turkey Submitted by havas (Turkey), Dec 28, 2012 at 05:08 it is strange that 10 years ago 70% of turks wanted to join to eu. 10 years later today only 30% wants to join. government only uses the candidacy for econmic profits. nobody really wants to integrate with europe politically. 10 years ago many jobless turks was trying to immigrate to eu. today unemployment rate fell to 8% in turkey while t is over 25% in spain or greece. Although turkey dont have oil or gas or much other natural resources and also in war with terrorist kurds for more than 40 years and spend so much money there we are economically better than some eu countries like bulgaria and romania. people who try to pass the borders illegally from turkey to greece are not turks. they are afgan, palestein, ıraq, syria, african citizens. believe me if eu invites turkey today turkey may refuse it. because eu politics dont fit to turkey. but on the other hand eu also dont have any desire to take turks inside either. because in order to take a visa we have to give 33 different papers to consulates every time. if they had such a plan to take turkey in,to get visa would be much easier.so ı can assure you that at this time of time turks are not threat to west, to eu particularly. eu candidacy is just a game which both parties willingly play. turks show the world that they are partially european country and europeans show the world that they are not racist people that they can even include muslims into eu. and this is all bull shit.
