Young Turks and All ThatReader comment on item: The Good News in Turkey Submitted by Soloview (Canada), Jun 4, 2013 at 13:06 I too would like to be hopeful that the street unrest in Turkey is going to restore Turkey's window on Europe. But something tells me that convincing as the passion for democracy is in Instanbul and Ankara is (unlike Egypt and Libya a little while back) it will not happen. With Saudi and Gulf money Turkey prospers. Europe barely holds on. For all intents and purposes, the US is bankrupt. AKP has more money than CHP. In the end, most Turks will vote with their pocketbook and that means more Erdogan. If they have not already, they will learn to live with the petty insults of no booze after ten and stewardesses without lipstick. They will look the other way when journalists promoting the ideals of the dysfunctional Western middle class and European economic models with 20+% unemployment, end up in jail.
