Debanjan Banerjee is a broken record and facts do not matter to him

Dear Dr Pipes:

The beauty of our system is that we let the wrong people be wrong and we let them speak as much as they want to. Debanjan Banerjee is a prime example. Banerjee can be shamelessly illogical and repetitive. Consider the following statement of him: "If you go by the amount of political dissent , most of the so-called dissenters are lured by money and not conviction. And talking about dissenters it seems the West also has a fare share of them thanks to Mr. Assange , Mr. Manning and last but not least Mr. Snowden. Now these people are ruled by their convictions and not money as some of the Iranian dissenters or even people like Nonie Darwish , Ayan Hirsi Ali , Salman Rushdie , Taslima Nasrin or Walid Shoebat has been."

It is not humanly possible to be wrong more times in one single paragraph than Banerjee is in the above. Banerjee's lies and lack-of-logic needs to be challenged.

First, without providing any evidence, Banerjee states that many dissenters of Islam were lured by money and not conviction. I have seen more conviction in Darwish, Ali, Rushdie, Nasrin and Shoebat than almost any Islamic scholar. In fact, I have not found much conviction in any modern Islamic scholars.

Second, Banerjee mentions Assange, Manning and Snowden as dissenter of the west. That is nice but if we must make an analogy, Islam will correspond to Christianity and not to West. Assange, Manning and Snowden dissented from the West. Darwish, Ali, Rushdie, Nasrin, and Shoebat dissented from Islam. This is a subtle difference but Banerjee will proably not be able to see it.

Third, when Assange, Manning, and Snowden dissented they did not become supporters of Islamic fundamentalism. In fact, to the best of my knowledge, these people did not even seek asylum in any of the Islamic countries. This makes their dissension irrelevant to this forum. On the other hand, the people who dissented from Islam, became big advocates of western concept of freedom.

The more Banerjee writes, the more credibility he will lose. Bring it on Debanjan. Bring it on.
