First, without providing any evidence, Banerjee states that many dissenters of Islam were lured by money and not conviction.

DB:Have you thought the fact that Salman Rushdie won the booker prize. Is that not the lure of money ? Have you considered the fees that Walid Shoebat and Nonie Darwish charges ?? Do you know that Taslima Nasreen has got more than 3 houses in the West ? Are you aware of that Ayan Hirsi Ali was a former MP in the Dutch parliament and currently married to the millionaire author Niall Ferguson ? If these are not signs of lure by money then I do not know what constructs greed ?

S: I dont see your point. He won the Boooker due to literary talent. He was a famous novelist BEFORE he wrote The Satanic Verses. And he continued to be famous after- how hard is that to understand?

Taslima Nasreen has acquired her riches from her novels. Writers write about what they know .If all Taslima knows is Muslim persecution ,dont hold it against her.

Ayaaan and Niall move in the same social circles as intellectuals. Some intellecutals such Fergusson and Rushdie write books which become best sellers thereby earning them riches. I dont see your problem with this.When she moves in such circles, she is not likely to encounter a poor man anymore than you would expect the Princess of Abu Dhabi to marry a common grocer.

I have seen more conviction in Darwish, Ali, Rushdie, Nasrin and Shoebat than almost any Islamic scholar.

DB:I can consider your views seriously only when I see Shoebat and Darwish condemning the killing of innocent Iraqi children by US sanctions and calling for people like Clinton , Bush and Cheney to be tried for War criminals.

I can only consider your views seriously when I see Ibn Warraq , Shoebat and Darwish asking the US to bring to justice Ariel Sharon , the butcher of Sabra and Shattila.

I can take your views seriously only when I see Ayan Hirsi Ali condemning the cold-blooded murder of Ibragim Todasev and Anwar Al-Awlaki.

I can only take your views seriously only when Taslima Nasreen and Salman Rushdie goes on to condemn the cold-blooded murder of innocent Pakistani and Yemeni children by US drones.

DB: And why should they fulfill this wish list of yours. You dont seem to understand what is meant by conviction.If killing Pakistani children is their conviction then they are standing by their convictions arent they!

Just FYI Ayaan Hirsi Ali isnt a Christian fundamentalist-she is pro gay marriage and abortion as well as for feminism. Things that upset her right wing Christian fans a great deal

Similarly Salman Rushdie is very critical of Bush and his wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Im not sure of Nasreen but I wouldnt be surprised if she feels the same way

Also it was not Sharon who was the the butcher of Shatila but Lebanese Christian militias

There are quite a few conservative Right wing Americans who were uncomfortable with the killing of Anwar al Awlaki as they consider it unconstitutional . One Ron Paul who ran for President for 2008 and 2012 goes as far as to criticize the extra judicial killing of OBL.

Just because you are so thoroughly ignorant of domestic American politics, dont assume others are.

In fact, I have not found much conviction in any modern Islamic scholars.

DB:Or may be you have never read about any modern Islamic scholars. Have you read Syed Qutb , Mohammad Iqbal , Jamal Al-Afghani , Syed Nursi or even say Imam Khomenini ? Probably not.

To summarize you did not even understand why did I bring up the names of Manning , Assange or Snowden. I have been hearing in this particular forum for so many years that Islam is intolerant towards dissenters. Now the behavior of the Western regimes towards their own dissenters like Manning and Snowden (the real dissenters) not those profit-minded so-called "Muslim dissenters" .

S: I have read enough of those theocratic gangsters to know that they must be opposed tooth and nail.

And you are really a fool to compare Manning,Assange and Snowden to Islamic dissenters. As you are confusing political /national with religious dissent. National dissent or treachery is a very serious crime in any nation, be it Christian,Muslim,Buddhist,Hindu,athiest or what have you. You must compare the treatement of Islamic dissenters not to Manning et al but to those like Dawkins and Hitchens etc who write books against God ,Judaism,Christianity etc and become millionaires and are celebrtities among the bien pensants of the West

Once again , try and read a newspaper before you blabber about dissent.
