Assad first then Iran (Hezbullah collapses alone)Reader comment on item: Forget Syria, Target Iran Submitted by Sameer Baitamouni (Jordan), Sep 9, 2013 at 09:04 Thank you Dr. Pipes... I would say that the Axis of violence in the region is "Iran-Syria-Hezbullah", the core of it is Assad regime as it is the main key in the region and the main link between Iran and Hezbullah, change of regime in Syria is essential to start the work against Iran, sanctions made life in Iran difficult, I guess helping the Arabs in Ahwaz "south-west of Iran" is important to destablize the Mullahs rule. Iran has a high strategic importance with Assad, they know change of regime in Syria will vaporize their dreams to be a main player in the area, and it will stop their interventions in the internal policies of the Gulf states. The US has to play a major role in the whole Middle East, this area should not be let to Iran and Russia to have bigger space to change the rules.
