Poland, actively complicit in the Holocasut

My father and my mother were born in Poland, so were their family lineage, going be few hundred years. I am qualified for a Polish passport. Only that my question is why do I want to get a passport from a country that was actively complicit with killing both my parents' entire family during the Nazi era of WWII?
