Orwell Complete's the PictureReader comment on item: A 1914 Novel's Prescient Vision of Londonistan Submitted by Dave (United States), May 28, 2014 at 21:53 Chesterton's vision was amazing, but in addition to prohibitions on alcohol and pork, Britain is now the land of politically correct limits on free speech, where quoting Winston Churchill on Islam in public can get you arrested, as happened to Paul Weston. George Orwell's "1984" totalitarian nightmare is coming true as Britain imposes Sharia-lke prohibitions on criticizing Islam. That's very serious. I can do without pork or whiskey, but nobody can shut me up.

You are right that Chesterton focused on the obvious, like alcohol, and missed the more substantial points, such as the ban of criticism of Islam. Reader comments (25) on this item
