Waving the bloody shirt on Press TVReader comment on item: Debating the Morality of Israel & Hamas in Battle Submitted by E benAbuya (United States), Jul 14, 2014 at 14:10 Well done Daniel. I especially commend your fortitude standing up on Press TV. From my Monday-Morning-Quarterback chair there are only two opportunities I think you missed. The propaganda technique Ms. Hafsa Kara-Mustapha employed, exclusively, in making her case, is known as "waving the bloody shirt" [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waving_the_bloody_shirt]. I'm not certain how you could manage it on Press TV, but that needs to be exposed for what it is. It is their standard issue rhetoric. As logical argument it is bogus. It is only effective in that it plays to the emotions; which most times trumps reason and evidence. The other is her reliance on the notion that it is the "Occupation" that is the cause of the violence. According to Hamas, Fatah and all the other Palestinian partisans (as reflected in their founding documents and public statements) "All of Palestine, from the river to the sea" is occupied Palestinian "land." Despite there never having been even the notion of a Palestinian People until 1964. (copious documentation, incl Arab public statements {MEMRITV}) If she and her ilk claim that the Palestinians have a right to resist persecution, massacre, genocide then why does Israel not have the same right? Are we not to take the Palestinians at their word? Why are the Palestinians without "agency" or responsibility for their actions?
