Isaiah 17 was fulfilled long, long ago: Gaza is just business as usual for Jews.

Isaiah 17 was fulfilled long ago, while Isaiah was still living. Damascus was destroyed, and its people exiled, by the Assyrians. There seems to be a fetish, of relating every prophecy to the year 2014. 2014 will be followed by 2015, and these same prophecies will be cited as describing what's going on. Ditto for 2016 and 2017. You can take that to the bank.

Meanwhile, Israel is engaged in a very serious war with a very serious enemy -- a war far greater in scale than the Gaza defensive actions in 2008 and 2012. HAMAS rockets can now reach all of Israel, and they are becoming dangerously accurate. At the same time, HAMAS's defensive structure, a veritable underground city built with Israel-supplied concrete, is highly professional and effective. If Israel does not prosecute this war to the finish, then two years from now HAMAS will pose an existential threat to the Jewish homeland. All the while, the Americans and others are trying to pressure Israel into quitting and giving the victory to their enemies. This sort of thing wasn't predicted by Isaiah 17 nor by any of the pet prophecies bandied about today by Jews and Christians alike. It is just a continuation of a 66-year-old policy of the Gentile powers trying to manage Israel like a ghetto.

No specific prophecy foretold this; it's just been a fact of life for thousands of years for the Jewish people. It comes from the Jews having a God who really IS God, and the rest of the world murderously envious of them because of it. It was happening centuries before Isaiah was born.
