daily mail: mass migration hurts us allReader comment on item: Making Culture an Element of Immigration Policy Submitted by myth (Germany), Aug 1, 2014 at 06:07 UK paper Daily Mail argues "mass migration hurts us all". They cite a "left-wing" economist. I very much agree that one must ask the fundamental question about the total numbers of migrants prior to asking the question concerning the origin. For most countries in continental Europe mass immigration equals immigration from majority-muslim countries. However, I reject the predominantly economical perspective on immigration. It is Western business that is no longer integrated in Western culture, I fear. Regardless of logic, the question of origin may prove the more effective one in the political arena. It is certainly origin as expressed in behavior that citizens experience, not so much total numbers. The traditional approach to an assessment of origin has been one of prejudiced ignorance. Informed prejudice would serve Europe better. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
