The Spanish invasion of Mesoamerica and South America and IslamReader comment on item: Making Culture an Element of Immigration Policy Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Jan 7, 2015 at 17:09 KH you wrote Monotheism evil? Yes monotheism is evil and illogical A good case in point is the strongly biblicist William Tyndale (early 16th century) arguing that the New Testament offers no indulgence for those killed in holy war. Tyndale's greatest achievment was his desire to see the Bible belonging to the community in other words translate the Bible be it "linear or meaning" translations something that was done about 1200 years earlier by Middle East Christians be it the Peshitta (the Syiac Bible) or the Coptic Bible (Sahidic Coptic) and the reason was very obvious: to the Copts regarded their language the Egyptian language as their Lingua Sacra and to the Syrians their language Syriac was also their Lingua Sacra and still is Further, despite a long history of warfare with Islam, Eastern Orthodoxy seems to have never developed a doctrine of plenary indulgence for holy warriors comparable to those given by Popes to Crusaders. Very true. The development of Eastern Christianity was very different and was more spritual and yes we have the likes of Shenoute in Egypt who had his own diatribes against Egyptian pagans but urging his followers to kill the polytheists was not one of them However Western Christians were indeed brutalized by the Muslim attacks on the shores of Europe as in the case of Italy and the occupation of Spain and in the case of Spain when the Spanish invaded Mesoamerica and South America, they killed the native peoples of the Americas and forced them to convert to Christianity or be killed and their women were raped and enslaved and their books and libraries were torched. The only way i can explain this barbarity is that the Spanish have learned all about these atrocities from the Arabs that occupied Spain as non of these atrocities have any supporting doctrines in Chrisatianity Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
