Mahdi not Caliph

It seems to me that these upstarts are more in line with the Mahdi of Sudan, than along any Caliphal line of action. This is seen in their eschatalogical outlook on life, being more about death than life. Also it is easily viewable in their lack of socieital organising, unless you call the slaughter of minorities/anyone with a different view, an organising principle for working society.
