ISIS as a proxy army of Turkey?Reader comment on item: The Caliphate Brings Trauma Submitted by steven (United States), Aug 29, 2014 at 08:02 As a casual observer of the emergence of ISIS, it appears that Turkey has been a primary beneficiary with the incursion against Assad as well as the Kurds. I continue to hear from the MSM about ISIS funding itself through the sale of oil from fields seized in Syria and Iraq. I never hear to whom ISIS is selling this oil to. I would appreciate enlightenment on these matters. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: Logic suggests that the oil is being sold either within Syria and Iraq or to one or more of their neighbors. I have seen reports about sales to Turkey and Iran. Reader comments (20) on this item
