Turkey is the only potential caliphate I am concerned about.Reader comment on item: The Caliphate Brings Trauma Submitted by Michael S. (United States), Sep 4, 2014 at 13:24
A potential Turkish Caliphate is the only one I take seriously, because it is prophesied in Ezekiel 38-39. The net effect of the other proposed and current caliphates, emirates, etc. will no doubt be the destruction of national and ethnic borders, since this is what happened in the Islamic World during the Middle Ages. It was that very disappearance of meaningful nation-states, in fact, that led to the emergence of the Ottoman Empire in the first place. Hitting this from a news angle, rather than a prophetic one, we can be fairly certain that Iraq and Syria will not be viable states for the forseeable future -- ESPECIALLY with the US-led meddling in the area currently in progress. Ultimately, the only reasonable expectation for those countries is their being occupied by neighboring countries willing to stay the course (which the US and allies are definitely NOT willing to do). That means Iraq, Syria and Lebanon will be divided between Iran, Turkey and Israel. From either angle, the ultimate outcome will be the Turko-Iranian attack on Israel which is prophesied in Ezekiel. Prognosis? An overwhelming Israeli victory, as prophesied. As a side note, Sudan and Libya are prophesied to join in the fray; but not Iraq, Syria and Egypt. When the dust has settled in the latter countries, perhaps we will see the period of peace prophesied in Isaiah 19.
