A very different exampleReader comment on item: Are Muslims Fatalists? Submitted by Vijay (Switzerland), Sep 17, 2015 at 14:07 From Kolyma - Arctic Death Camps by Robert Conquest, concerning Muslim prisoners from Central Asia and the Caucasus, pages 94-95: The Muslim prisoners presented a different picture. Brought from subtropical climate of their homelands to the coldest regions in the world, they died like flies. ...They did not try to defend themselves. ... When one of them entered the hospital, it was certain he would leave it feet first. While their Russian comrades fought for life to the last breath, they waited submissively for death. This fatalism, this utter capitulation to the thought of death, made saving them impossible, although Russians with similar cases would overcome the disease.
