Reader comment on item: ISIS' Imminent Demise

Submitted by Charles Martel (United States), Dec 6, 2015 at 17:46

How many of us remember the PLO? How about the PFLP? Hamas, Hezbollah, Boko Haram and al Qaeda are still with us. Perhaps Dr. Pipes is correct and ISIS will eventually fall of its own horrifically vicious weight. Yet the only certainty is that it will be rapidly replaced by a new Islamic terror group, and, if history is any guide, one that is likely to be even more dangerous. Recently, the United Arab Emirates issued a list of 83 Islamist groups which it classified as "terrorist organizations". Dr. Pipes has cogently pointed out that one of the most dangerous offshoots of Islamism is the less violent kind. CAIR has something in common with Recep Erdogan in that both pursue their ultimate goals within "the system". As Erdogan busily transforms Turkey into an Islamic bastion of 7th Century Sharia inch by inch, so too CAIR stealthily infiltrates our schools, media and government organizations. Forget tactics, their objectives are in alignment with ISIS, Hamas and all the rest.

The take home message is that we must not get lost in the dizzying array of Islamic organizations and their myriad stratagems brought to bear against us. Here I part company with Dr. Pipes as I firmly believe the enemy is none other than Islam itself. Whether or not the seed of moderation still exists in Islam, we are well advised to take immediate, aggressive and protective steps to box Islam out of our nation, in each and all of its forms.
