Paris and SinaiReader comment on item: ISIS' Imminent Demise Submitted by Alex (United States), Dec 8, 2015 at 12:09 I agree with absolutely everything that Dr. Pipes says, except the inclusion of the recent terrorism in Paris and Sinai in the list of ISIS attacks--is there any evidence linking the group to these attacks, at all? I will allude in passing the recent messaging and activity--and past patterns--of the old Egyptian Islamic Jihad, centered around three main individuals: Saif Al-Adel, Muhammad Shawqi Al-Islambouli, and Ayman Al-Zawahiri. Zawahiri's seemingly unannounced recent message included a list of targets that clearly match those of recent attacks (French in Paris, Russians in Sinai, Shi'ites in Beirut). Saif Al-Adel was dispatched recently to Syria to negotiate between Isis and his loyal forces in Jabhat Al-Nusra, the "negotiation" beginning with a suicide boming of an Isis commander as (I think) revenge for the suicide-assasination of the last Alqaeda negotiator between these two groups in February 2014, Abu Khaled Al-Suri--who Saif Al-Adel eulogized over the past two months as well. Al-Islambouli is now seen as the real leader of the "Khoarasan Group," Jabhat Al-Nusra's supposed arm for attacks in Europe. Most juicily, Al-Islambouli was suspected as commanding the last suicide-downing of a Russian passenger jet(s) in 2004.
