Holy TerrorReader comment on item: Does Israel Need U.S. Jewish Support? Submitted by Michael S (United States), Apr 18, 2016 at 11:26 Hello, Daniel I am trying to look at this from Hashem's perspective. God adopted Israel, calling them to be His own, to demonstrate to the world what it means to be a people identified with, provided for and protected by the King of the Universe. I know that many Jews take these things lightly -- As Tevye said, in "Fiddler on the Roof", "Sometimes I wonder, God -- couldn't you have chosen someone else?" Yes, God COULD have easily chosen someone else! Jesus said that God could make Sons of Abraham from stones. But God didn't and I, as a Christian, am very, very glad that He didn't. You see, as a Christian, I am a hitchhiker God picked up along the road; but you Jews, you are the family in the car. You're the unruly kids in the back seat, making it difficult for God to drive. "Are we there yet?" "Billy hit me!' "I have to go to the bathroom!" "This is boring! Why can't I have my playstation!" Read that stuff, then read the Bible. That's you Jews! Can you see from this, why there's been conflict over the ages, between pious Christians and Jews? Nevertheless, I am, as I say, very, very glad that God chose you and DIDN'T DESERT YOU! He could have sold you all for a lump of coal years ago, and made money on the deal. But if God deserts you, whom He has adopted as His own family, how will it be for me, an unworthy hitchhiker? My security in God rests, to a great degree, on His faithfulness to you. So, you are all unruly and disobedient, unworthy of God. Because of this, prophet after prophet has warned the Jewish people that he would punish them, and cast them off; and in 70 AD, He did -- for 1,878 years. When He brought them back to the promised land, he brought the secular and "ungodly" Jews first, because the super-pious, Orthodox Jews, for the most part, for their own stupid reasons, considered obeying God, and returning to the impoverished but beautiful land He had given them, a venture unworthy of their efforts. They covered up their impiety with religiosity; but when they saw that God was prospering their secular brethren, and that he had consigned them to the horrors of the Holocaust, then by and by, they began to move to Israel. Now it is the religious who are beginning to flock to Israel, and the largely secular, mostly American Jews who are, like Lot's wife, looking back with longing eyes at the riches of the New Sodom, which is also the New Egypt and the New Babylon. Is there anything new under the sun? God will certainly not abandon the Jews in Iraq, in Russia, in France, and, in not too long a time, in the USA. But what will it take, for Him to bring them back to where they belong? I heard a guest speaker once, on israelnationalradio.com, who joked about a Jew who lived in Norway, above the Arctic Circle. In the winter there, of course, the sun doesn't set; so the Jew wrote to a rabbi in Jerusalem, asking what times he should say his morning, noon and evening prayers. The rabbi wrote back to him, saying, "Nu, What are you doing in Norway? You belong in Israel!" Jews bemoan the fact that their children are marrying the goiim, and abandoning the religion and traditions of their fathers (through their mother's side, in a typical Jewish peculiarity). Secretly, though, I think they're glad that this is happening; because the alternative is that Jews in the Galut should be persecuted yet again; and in Hitler's day, they were -- even to the third generation, no matter how apostate they had become. Yes, you are right: It is good, that a large percentage of goiim in the world's most powerful country support Israel -- even if they do this in spite of millions of ungrateful Liberal Jews who have forgotten God, and undermine the efforts of their well-meaning Gentile friends. Even so, THIS Gentile friend and hitchhiker prays for them, that they will once more become zealous for God and for His commandments, and go back and help take the land He commanded them to take; and that they do this before He has to compel them with holy terror. Shalom shalom. Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and be brave. Don't be afraid of those people because the Lord your God is with you. He will not fail you or leave you."
