Confusion: Aod Hitler vs. Stalin?!Reader comment on item: No to Bombing Syria Submitted by Dajjal (United States), Apr 9, 2017 at 21:18 I find myself in complete agreement with Uncle Vladdie. We have no hyena in that fight and should watch from a distance without interfering. Bashar al-Assad, like his father, is a draconian Tyrant, unworthy of power. Those rebelling aginst his regime want to be Draconian Tyrants and should be kept away from power. As in Afghanistan, aid given to Muslims will come back to bite us in the long run. As horrible and hateful as Sarin is, death is death and suffering is suffering no matter what agent is used. War is about killing people and destroying military assets. When you take a swing at the King, you know that one of you is going to die. If you do not kill the King with the first blow, he will stop at nothing to eradicate you. It's what Tyrants do. The region and the world are marginally better off with the Assad regime. I am with Unk: no assistance to the enemy of all mankind, ever! Hitler and Stalin were two arch-typical Tyrants the world would be better off without., FDR supported Stalin against Hitler's aggression. It was better to let Stalin win than Hitler. Marginally, not much. Rooting for the underdog is fine in cartoons but morally bad when the underdog happens to be the aggressor. War is an evil institution that should be abolished by exterminating the warmongers. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
