Prescient Thinking About Where Turkey Thinks It Should Being GoingReader comment on item: A Short Conversation with Daniel Pipes Submitted by M Tovey (United States), Jul 10, 2020 at 19:42 If anyone thought the idea of the Sophia Hagia being reconverted into an Islamically colonized place of worship was out of the realm of possibility, think again. That the Muslim invasions of centuries ago were successful beyond their wildest dreams in carrying the replacement of monotheistic theologies to places once thought to be bastions of Christendom, and which found a permanent foothold in the Ottoman Empire's throne of Constantinople/Istanbul, then being lost a hundred years ago; is it really all that out of the reach of rationale that a devout Muslim leader with the notion of the ambition of Turkish leader Erdoǧan would extend his vision of Muslim totalitarianism to one of history's remaining icons of an era long ago surrendered for lack of faith.
