Good answers, but biggest question not asked.Reader comment on item: The Key Issue of Hamas vs. Israel Submitted by Malcolm (Israel), May 27, 2021 at 15:26 As usual, Mr. Pipes gave well-informed and judicious answers to the questions posed. The most important question, however, was not asked: What conclusions will Hizbullah draw from what happened? (That its spokesmen claimed a victory for Hamas is no answer.) Hizbullah possesses bigger, more accurate and far more numerous missiles than Hamas. On the other hand, in Gaza, Israel demonstrated the capacity to devastate the Southern Suburb of Beirut and other major Shi'ite population centers if it wants to. As for "the two-state solution," etc., the reality is that there are three mutually hostile states between the Jordan and the Mediterranean and that this three-state solution, irrespective of formal acknowledgement, has come to stay for the foreseeable future. Yes, but Hizbullah has more complex considerations, especially Tehran's wishes, than does Hamas. Reader comments (31) on this item
