So, Victory Means Re-Installing the Palestinian Authority (Abbas) in Gaza?Reader comment on item: Poll: Israelis Want Victory, Preferably without Paying the Price Submitted by Robert (United States), Jun 29, 2021 at 09:33 Gregg Roman, Director, Middle East Forum, appears more specific as to what will lead to a Victory for Israel. In an article published today he advocates defeating Hamas. However, he does not say how that is to be done. There appear to be two ways to do that: (1) Israeli Invasion and subsequent rule over Gaza by the IDF, or (2) empowering the PA to do the job instead. Obviously, the second alternative is immediately less costly to Israeli lives. But it is by far more sustainable since the PA is the legal power recognized internationally as representing the Palestinians. Furthermore, it is consistent with the "economic peace strategy" of the Abraham Accords - give the Palestinians something to lose by improving their lives on the ground: in part, turn Gaza into a Singapore of the Middle East?
