Palestinian Cohort and DemographicsReader comment on item: Poll: Israelis Want Victory, Preferably without Paying the Price Submitted by Robert (United States), Jul 2, 2021 at 11:32 Dr. Pipes mentions the need for Israel to prevent Hamas to re-arm the Gaza Strip, implying that this is in part the way forward for Israel's Victory. But even if it's possible to limit the amount of Rockets and Missiles, many of which are produced domestically (not in Iran), we already see Gaza combatants launching Incendiary or Explosive Balloons. Whether it is possible to prevent this and how is an open question at best. More important, I think, is the question of Hamas ruling the Gaza Strip. It certainly appeared that having the Palestinians divided against themselves in Gaza and the West Bank (Hamas and the Palestinian Authority) was previously to Israel's advantage since it is clear that the De Facto Power (Hamas) was 100% against peace with Israel under any terms, while the De Jure Power (the Palestinian Authority) was merely a voice recognized in the UN and other national fora. The Program President Trump introduced was Economic, and a success. It brought forth the Abraham Accords and four (4) mostly Arab Muslim States (UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan_), and arguably, indirectly, the 4 Arab Muslim-Brotherhood Bedouin Palestinian Israeli seats in the Knesset. So I think the Strategy here should be for Israel to guide the new Arab allegiances it has acquired (including Egypt, Saudi Arabia secretly or off the record) and change the economic situation on the ground in Gaza. Hamas, and Islamic Jihad, will forever fight Israel and Zionism to the last Palestinian. But Palestinians are also Human (like the rest of Humanity) and here, as distasteful as his name is to many, Karl Marx recognized the role of Economics. And today, China has become a Great Imperial Communist Economic Power - 2nd only to the Capitalist USA. China has no interest in the internal affairs of any country except within its own "Great Wall" so to speak (Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc.). in summary, I think the Trump Administration was correct, in addressing the Victory issue the the economic power of Israel and its new and newest Arab allies. The way to break up the Palestinian cohort of adversaries now is to solve their Economic Distress. And we now see, that Hamas refuse to return 2 Israeli prisoners/hostages and 2 dead soldier bodies, even if it affects the welfare of the population of Gaza. How many Gaza Palestinian would rather die as Martyrs than be "bribed" to live a "good life" may be answered perhaps by a "racist" retort - that Palestinians want Palestine from the River (Jordan) to the Sea (Mediterranean) until the last Palestinian (dead Martyr). So it appears that the Marxist view is the non-Racist one: that most Palestinians want to Good Life, on Earth, and not just in Heaven or Muslim Paradise.
