BUT -Reader comment on item: How Ukrainian Refugees Could Inadvertently Erase the West Submitted by VCRAGAIN (United States), Jul 9, 2022 at 17:19 Thing is we know why all these people are running - we have all watched the attacks on them, and know what they have been thru, and seen ourselves in them. The other refugees are suspect because we are all wary about anyone coming from the ME because we already have a history of being attacked by people from there - we instinctively do not trust the ME, and we know that Islam has within it a streak of believers that believe WE should all be destroyed, so where do we draw the line on the trust business & the ME. Their men have much worse attitudes to females, and represent a threat to our norms. I also loathe the noise of the Islamic 'call to prayer' regard that as a big nuisance that I would HATE if it were in my neighborhood. In trying to be fair to everybody we really need to accept that it is impossible to fairly judge those from suspect countries when we are in such danger from some of them. For black Africans, the problem there is a reputation of lying to gain advantage that I have seen in my London youth, and that has my instincts towards most Africans on alert, but interestingly people from the Caribbean are quite different in attitude, so I do not feel suspicious of them. Problem is a few bad contacts with any one person can make you forever cautious about their country mates, often unfairly, but we can only judge by our own experience. So - all of you - dishonesty & craftiness make you judged as untrustworthy - but - you are also causing a bad reaction for ALL your countrymen - so fix that & things might improve. There is also the question of numbers - most Europeans are aware that we live in much better countries than those pushing to get in, and also that for every 100 people who manage to do that there are many hundreds of others that would follow them - so it's a numbers game as well !
