Palestinian National Identity

Reader comment on item: The Year the Arabs Discovered Palestine [Short version]
in response to reader comment: Do you still think that the Palestinian national identity could disappear as quickly as it started?

Submitted by Andy Conner (United Kingdom), Sep 26, 2022 at 12:27

I suggest that Palestinian National Identity began in the aftermath of the 1908 Young Turk revolution and not in 1920.
The Palestinians at that time never foresaw the end of the Ottoman Empire and their identity developed within this context.
