Campus Backlash

Daniel Pipes is absolutely correct about the anti-Amerrican, anti-Capitalism, and particularly anti-Bush rhetoric which prevades Academe. I am a conservative Economist, and nearly the only politically conservative member of my college faculty for 33 years. The knee-jerk left wing sentiments of college, high school and even elementary school faculties, is backfiring. Many students have thanked me for being outspoken about my conservativism. Patriotism among the students is clearly on the rise, as is enlistment in ROTC and interest in the US military in general. America's students, having been fed hatred of authority since elementary school, are beginning to revolt against their authorities - left-wing instructors. Even the pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel rhetoric is beginning to backfire - even at UC Berkeley and among non-Jewish students in particular.

Teaching children to always question authority will backfire when you become the authority.
