Muslim Women against the Niqab and BurqaReader comment on item: An Unveiling: Separate, but Acceptable? Submitted by zzazzeefrazzee (United States), Nov 15, 2006 at 23:54 Yes, I'm in full agreement Daniel, but you should mention to your readers that there are PLENTY of Muslim women who agree with you on this issue as well! Care to feature them? http://www.arabnews.com/?page=7§ion=0&article=88760&d=13&m=11&y=2006. While you're at it, why not educate your fellow Americans about all the various head coverings worn by Muslim women, and the varieties of them, their shapes and forms? In your comments, I find it curious that you do not mention of the word Hijab - why is that? Do you not have a problem with a hijab? I see it as no different than a nun wearing a habit. Why not mention that there are plenty of prominent Muslims women alive and well in the islamic world that don't wear any sort of head covering? Queen Noor, for starters. Care to mention the very brave Huda Sharawi? I bet that many of your zealous readers haven't the slightest clue that someone like her even existed, much less still the object of sincere admiration today. http://www.english.emory.edu/Bahri/Shaarawi.html, http://www.pinn.net/~sunshine/whm2001/huda2.html. Daniel Pipes replies: I did not mention hijabs because the discussion concerns covered faces not covered hair and necks. << Previous Comment Next Comment >> Reader comments (41) on this item
